Ongoing partnership
M-Files is a Finnish information management software company with a broad ecosystem built around its products. We designed Empower for M-Files — a Help Center that covers the entire ecosystem and consolidates the information users need in one place.
Before drawing a single screen, we held a workshop with M-Files' team responsible for content and development. Together, we mapped what Empower should contain, how content is categorised, and where the boundaries of the whole are drawn. Without this step, it would have been hard to know what we were actually designing.
How we did it
Scoping workshop
We mapped Empower's content needs, categorisation, and scope together with the M-Files team. When this is done properly from the start, the rest flows more smoothly.
Iterative design in Figma
The UI took shape gradually in Figma. An iterative approach means M-Files could give feedback along the way — you don't have to try to get design right in one go, because it never works that way.
Developer guidance
As Empower is built in code, we review implementations and give M-Files' developers feedback on how to match the UI to the Figma designs. This keeps the gap between design and final product small.
Continued development
Empower isn't a project with a clear end. We design new sections as the client's wishes and ecosystem needs evolve.
